Why Richmond Hill? Like the highest ratings given in the hotel industry, there are some who call Richmond Hill a “FIVE-STAR COMMUNITY.”

* CONVENIENCE - A short distance to the airport, downtown Savannah, the Savannah Mall and St. Joseph’s/Candler hospital. A major factor to also consider is that Richmond Hill is mid-way between Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield.
* GREAT SCHOOLS - One of Georgia’s best public school systems.
* LOW PROPERTY TAXES - Compared to our neighboring counties, we have one of the lowest millage rates and largest discounts for homestead deductions, especially for our retirees.
* LIVE - WORK – PLAY - Over the years, our community has grown, offering employment opportunities, quality lifestyles and recreation for all its citizens.
* WATERFRONT COMMUNITY - Easy access to the many rivers and barrier island beaches. Lots of offshore fishing, crabbing in creeks and wonderful cruising to be experienced.
Along Georgia’s coast, half way between Savannah and the St. Marys River lies McIntosh County and the town of Darien and Townsend Georgia. Today Mc Intosh County is a quiet town and travelers who fail to explore the lands along US 17 will pass by without realizing the historical significance of the area and its place in Georgia’s beginnings.
McIntosh County is known as the most untouched area of the eastern seaboard, known as the Fisherman's Paradise. The abundance of rivers, fish, and proximity to the ocean has attracted sportsmen to the area for many years. Among the many hidden secrets of the County is Harris Neck's 2,762 acres consisting of saltwater marsh, grassland, mixed deciduous woods, and cropland. Because of this great variety in habitat, many different species of birds are attracted to the refuge throughout the year. In the summer, thousands of egrets and herons nest in the swamps, while in the winter, large concentrations of ducks (especially mallards, gadwall and teal) gather in the marshland and freshwater pools. Over 15 miles of paved roads and trails provide the visitor easy access to the many different habitats. Chosen for it's accessibility and bird diversity, Harris Neck is one of 18 sites forming the Colonial Coast Birding Trail, inaugurated in 2000. Among this natural habitat lies the beautiful Spring Cove Subdivision.
